Donald Trump slammed “despicible” GOP candidate Ben Carson on Wednesday, accusing him of running a campaign that’s “desperate” to win the Iowa caucuses.
Carson, a retired neurosurgeon who has called for a ban on Muslims entering the country and proposed a border wall to stop illegal immigration, will be in the Iowa caucus state on Saturday to face his Democratic opponent, former U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, and former Gov.
Harkin and Branstad have both expressed interest in a bid for the White House.
Corker, the former U,S.
senator from Pennsylvania, is the only candidate left in the race, which began with Trump’s surprising win in South Carolina on Tuesday.
The former neurosurfer and pediatric neurosurgery resident is hoping to win Iowa in the coming weeks as he does so.
Citing a Politico report that said Carson has spent at least $1.5 million on television ads, Trump on Wednesday said, “Ben Carson has gone crazy.
He’s running for president of the United States.””
Ben Carson ran a desperate campaign.
And it’s desperate.
It’s desperate,” Trump said, adding, “You have no idea what it’s like to be a guy running for a presidential nomination.”
Carson’s campaign manager did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
